Hamilton's hardworking families need quality child care for their children that is affordable, safe, licensed, regulated and accessible, but the McGuinty government has let them down, says Hamilton East MPP Andrea Horwath.

The McGuinty government:

Broke Dalton McGuinty's 2003 election promise and didn't invest $300 million new dollars into a made-in-Ontario child care program;

Changed subsidies so that child care is being priced out of the reach of modest and middle income families;

Held on to federal money that was supposed to go to child care.

Disappointed many families in places like Timmins who lost their child care centres.

Andrea and the NDP led the charge in exposing these facts. They have been the voice for child care workers who need and deserve to be paid a professional wage more in line with the important work they do in early childhood education.
